Changing your legal name
Last updated
On this page
Your legal name is the name on your government ID. Before you verify your identity, you can change it any time in Personal information.
Why it's locked after verification
Once your identity is verified, your legal name and date of birth are locked. This protects you: nobody who gets into your account can quietly change who you are. Your preferred first name, which is what hosts and guests see, stays free to change.
How to ask for a change
Email hello@gojospot.com from the email address on your Gojo Spot account, with:
- Your current legal name and your new legal name
- Why it changed (for example: marriage, a correction, or a legal name change)
We may ask you for a document that shows the change, such as:
- Your new ID or passport with the new name
- A marriage certificate
- A court order or an official name-change record
Please don't send documents until we ask for them, and never send them to anyone who isn't on a gojospot.com email address.
What happens next
We usually reply within 1–2 working days. When we change your legal name, your identity is no longer verified, so you'll need to verify again with an ID that shows your new name. This keeps your name and your ID matching.
A wrong date of birth
If the date of birth from your ID is wrong, email us the same way and we'll help.
