Safety tips for guests
Last updated
Before you book
- Choose hosts with an "Identity verified" badge and read their profile and reviews.
- Read the full listing: photos, house rules, location and what's included (water, power, generator, Wi-Fi).
- Never pay outside Gojo Spot and never send money to someone who contacts you about a listing outside the site. Once payments open, paying on Gojo Spot is how you're protected.
- Be careful with offers that look too good to be true, or hosts who rush you.
On your trip
- Share your trip details with someone you trust. Add an emergency contact to your account.
- Arrive in daylight when you can, and agree on check-in details with your host in advance.
- Keep your passport, money and valuables secure.
- Check where the exits are, and that doors and windows lock.
If something feels wrong
- Leave if you feel unsafe.
- In an emergency in Ethiopia, call the police: 991, ambulance: 907, or fire: 939.
- Then report a concern to us. We read every report.
